Project Overview
Sejong University in South Korea, SoundFox hosted a live demonstration of our rail tracking system and media server technology from Qimera. The goal was to showcase how advanced camera tracking and real-time visuals can create immersive environments for education, broadcast and live events.
Challenge
LED walls are powerful, but their content is confined to the screen itself. Any surrounding space beyond the LED often looks disconnected, reducing immersion. The challenge was to show how a media server could extend visuals beyond the LED screen, turing the entire stage environment into a unified digital canvas.
Our Solution
For the demo, we set up a rail tracking system with a tripod pedestal moving along the rail parallel to Sejong University's LED screen. This enabled smooth, cinematic camera motion synced with the visuals.
We paired this with the Qimera media server, which allowed us to map graphics not only to the LED screen but also onto the physical background around it. This created the effect of an extended environment, where visuals flowed seamlessly beyond the LED surface.
Results
The demonstration successfully illustrated how rail tracking and Qimera can work together to break the boundaries of traditional LED displays. Attendees saw firsthand how this approach can enhance productions, from academic showcases to large-scale entertainment events, by transforming a limited LED setup into a fully immersive environment.
